the other night at the #sgtweetup, we were reminiscing about old mobile technology, and eventually it lead to which mobile device that we started using back in the early 90s. that got me thinking about how many pagers/phones i’ve had over the years.
i’ve always been a gadget geek, and in the past, i’ve always had phones that were 1-generation behind everyone else. it’s like i’m always 1 year behind everyone else, and it was my dreamwish to catch up with the rest of the world, e.g.: be one of the first few douchebags to flaunt the latest ware.
so i actually spent sometime trying to recall what are the mobile communications devices i’ve had over the years, and where it’s headed…
- motorola memojazz pager – the translucent blue one (came free with purchase of an HP printer)
- samsung cdma phone from m1
- motorola startac cdma phone from m1
- ericsson t18
- some sagem phone that died quite quickly
- nokia 8210 (i think)
- (it gets blur around this part) nokia 3210
- nokia 6510
- sony ericsson t610 (first megapixel cam phone?)
- nokia 7210
- sony ericsson z600
- sony ericsson k800i
- nokia n93
- samsung i600 (first and last winmo phone)
- nokia n82
- nokia 1209 (spare phone with iPhone)
- Apple iPhone
i think that’s about it for now. i can’t recall if i missed out on any of the phones. i think there may have been some forgettable motorolas in between. the rate of change went up significantly in the last 3 years, but i guess will stop for now. i don’t see myself changing to any other phone… well but gotta see how the iPhone will evolve from now!
//chengwei also blogged about her phone history. at least she remembers which years she had them!

Cool!! It’s been a while since I saw some of them ancient phones! My first cellphone was a hand-me-down from my dad: the Motorola Startac. It was so weird for a 12 year old to carry something as business-like as the StarTac. Hahaha. Ahh, this is such an interesting topic; I need to write an entry. Will pingback once I do. Thanks for the idea, Lennel!
no problem
it’ll be fun to get all nostalgic about past gadgets hahaha
